My name is Neil Hodgins.

I've been performing marriage ceremonies since June 2003 and I've had the pleasure (and honour!) to have performed over 200 ceremonies since then. It's a traditional & civil ceremony and I welcome your input (this is your day!).
As an officiant of The Humanist Association of Canada and The Windsor Humanist Society, you'll find that I'm not a person "ruled-by-religions" in my role as an officiant. This is your day, so my role is largely "ruled by you two", not ruled by what religious leaders think you should be celebrating on your day. Humanist officiants welcome all.
I'm a licensée from the Office of The Registrar-General of Ontario's - which means that as well as performing your actual marriage ceremony, I'm licensed to complete all the government marriage registration paperwork for you two. (Click here to verify my licensure on the Government of Ontario website's listing.)
In addition to being an officiant, I'm grateful for 20 years professional experience working along with adults & children in critical care environments. Through this experience, I develop ongoing respect & appreciation at being invited into others' lives -
especially during those intimate life events when we often feel vulnerable or in need of other human beings: "...from the happiness of birth, to the celebration of a life at death, and during those life-events of varying human emotion in-between...".
As a member and regional representative of Canadians For Equal Marriage (CEM), my appreciation of this wonderfully fascinating life-event (esp. its emotional & legal dimensions) continues to grow. Marriage challenges human beings with a right and responsibility to give meaning and shape to their own lives; marriage empowers human beings to live full, purposeful lives, without religious doctrines, by relying on our own capacities for rationality, honesty, cooperation, fairness, and respect for each other.
But this is all just me talking about myself. Click here to see what others have to say about me.
