A Child-Naming Ceremony is a formal, dignified and welcoming ceremony to celebrate the birth of a child and/or the naming of a child.
The ceremony can also be the welcoming of an adopted child or stepchild into their new family.
A Child-Naming Ceremony responds to the cultural and community need to welcome a child into the family and into the world. The child can be of any age.
A Child-Naming Ceremony provides an opportunity to declare before family and friends, one's promises to be as effective a parent as one can, and for adult friends or relatives to confirm their special relationship with your child.
A Child-Naming Ceremony is a unique occasion for everyone to feel involved, as their love and support for the child's development is pledged. It reminds all concerned of the great responsibility involved in bringing up a child, and to recognize and to appoint those who'll have an important role in the child's development.
As a humanist, I recognize and celebrate the unique character of each child and of each family within secular celebrations; I enjoy offering the flexibility to meet the individual needs and wishes of the family, not restricted by the impositions of religions.
